The rapid expansion of the Nordic gas filling station network continues as the energy company Gasum opens 2 new stations on December 13.
A new station opened in Mariestad, Sweden. The liquefied natural gas and biogas station is Gasum's seventh heavy-duty refueling station in Sweden and the company's first position in the Province of Västra Götaland.
A second natural gas station opened in Skåne County, also in Sweden, later that day. The station in Kristianstad serves heavy traffic by providing low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG).
The stations are part of the company's plan to expand its Nordic gas filling station network to cover a total of 50 heavy-duty refueling stations by the early 2020s, thereby meeting the growing demand for cleaner fuel solutions. Gasum is determined to improve the availability of low-emission fuel alternatives in the Nordic region in a growing number of logistics companies. In addition to expanding its gas filling station network, Gasum is also investing in increasing its biogas supply. The company is currently building a biogas plant in Sweden for the Stora Enso Nymölla paper mill. The plant is a good example of the use of local raw materials for the production of renewable fuel.
The news of the opening of the Kristianstad gas filling station has increased interest in gas in the Skåne region. For example, the Christian Lstad transport company, Green L Equipment AB, is planning to get its first gas-powered truck as soon as possible.
"I have followed the development of gas-fired equipment for about a year. When I heard about the new biogas plant and refueling station coming into the area, it was clear that we would be purchasing a gas-powered truck. We have applied for investment support from the Swedish environmental authority's 'Klimatklivet' climate investment program and are currently awaiting information on how much we will be awarded for the purchase of a gas vehicle. The environmental friendliness of gas fuel is important to Green L Equipment as we strive for carbon neutrality in the future. This also supports our customers' emission reduction efforts. For example, among our customers, HKScan aims to achieve 100% fossil-free transport by 2025, ”says Mårten Andersson, CEO of Green L Equipment AB .
“The location of the Mariestad filling station is a great support for our transportation. Liquefied gas is highly valued by our customers as a fuel because of its significant emission reductions. We are currently driving with a 50% biogas and 50% natural gas blend supplied by Gasum, ”says Tommy Breman, Managing Director of Bremans Åkeri AB . “We currently have one gas-powered truck and are currently acquiring another with the support of the Swedish climate authority's Klimatklivet climate investment program.
“The need to reduce emissions is now more realistic than ever, and participation in climate work concerns everyone. Gasum is investing in the development of a Nordic gas filling station network in order to provide logistics companies with cleaner fuel options. Every new position is a step in this direction, and it is great to see that the use of greener alternatives is becoming the rule rather than the exception, ”says Mikael Antonsson, Director of Gasum Traffic Sweden.
Fantastic to see. Important as well is to combine the good fuel with an efficient engine technology. The westport HPDI technology provides same performance and fuel consumption as a diesel engine.
