23 IVECO Stralis LNG for Acotral, Spanish Transport Co.

Logistics and transport company Acotral, which has been working for Mercadona since 2003, has announced an investment of three million euros for the acquisition of 23 new liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered trucks, which will further reduce emissions of polluting gases and particulate matter. The company is among the 10 most important transport and logistics companies in Spain.

The new units are Iveco Stralis 460 hp, and they will add to the other 40 that the company acquired last year. "We are one of the reference companies in transport with liquefied natural gas and one of the most committed to this type of fuel, which generates 47% less nitrogen oxide emissions than diesel vehicles and 98% less particulate matter," says Acotral's president Borja de Torres. Since the purchase of the initial 40 LNG tractor units, Acotral has reduced NOx emissions by 1,580 kg."

"Seven of the new units have already been delivered to us and the other sixteen will be delivered in the coming months," added Borja de Torres.

"The results obtained with our fleet of LNG-powered trucks confirm that we can maintain efficiency in logistics with more sustainable engines, an issue that we assume as a responsibility in the company," continued the manager. "We plan to further strengthen our commitment to the environment, so in the short and medium term we will continue to expand our LNG fleet."
