300 new CNG buses presented in Bogotá, Colombia


This coming Tuesday, October 13, the first 48 new buses out of the 300 that were presented this Thursday by TransMilenio will begin to operate in the zonal transport system.

These first 48 standard buses supplied by SCANIA, with a capacity of 80 passengers each have Euro VI Natural Gas engines will be operated by the Suma Organization, local operator of TransMilenio.

These new vehicles will mainly benefit the users living or working in Ciudad Bolívar, a town in the south of Bogotá and more than one million people who live in the towns of Tunjuelito, Kennedy, Fontibón, Engativá, Chapinero and Usaquén, among other areas of the city.

At TransMilenio we are committed to advancing the major projects of the Integrated Public Transportation System of Bogotá and with the aim of positioning it as a leader in clean technologies ” said Felipe Ramírez, General Manager of the System.

With the entry into operation of the new Suma buses, there will be a total of 363 vehicles running on Natural Gas, in the zonal concession of the system, thus fulfilling the commitments to renew the vehicle fleet, both in the zonal and core part of TransMilenio.
