Transporter Limpens from Elsloo in Limburg has commissioned four Volvo cars that run on LNG. The company has been waiting for the arrival of sufficient gas stations for LNG.
Since 1930, Limpens has evolved from transporter into a full service provider in logistics. Their activities include the full logistics package: from transport to (silo) storage, cleaning and repackaging. They operate around Europe for products such as GMP, chemicals, dry bulk, tank transport and ADR.
Now that LNG can be refueled in Maasmechelen, Belgium, and in Herentals, the last barrier has been removed for Limpens to purchase the trucks. An additional advantage is that LNG is cheaper in Flanders than in the Netherlands. Due to good experiences with diesel cars from the fleet, Limpens has chosen the Volvo FH460. The trucks were supplied by Nebim, Elsloo location. This is also the 50th Volvo for Limpens.
Energy saving and CO2 emissions reduction are literally a hot item at the moment. “Society demands it and our customers are also increasingly focusing on it. We have been trying for years to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible. We have been heating our main location since 1998 with geothermal heat and we have 2,000 solar panels on the roof. We are also very aware and economical with water. We realize that we also have to do our bit to make road transport more sustainable, "says Thijs Limpens.
