On October 27, SAIC IVECO Hongyan held a press conference, officially releasing its new product, Genlyon C6 LNG heavy-duty truck to the public. On the first day of sales, customers ordered a total number of 1,207 units.
Having already passed a host of stringent tests in number of demanding environments, Genlyon C6 LNG heavy-duty truck reaches a B10 expectancy of 1.6 million km and achieves high stability and reliability.
The Genlyon C6, clearly shows its European relation. This truck uses a cabin, which was designed by Italians and provided to the Chinese counterpart. The long-distance body is derived from the IVECO Stralis buthas a different interior. The Cursor series engines also come from Iveco. What's more, even Italian stamps are placed on the sides of the Genlyons. All this is based on a cooperation agreement signed by SAIC and Iveco as early as 2003.
The modernized version of the Genlyon C6 LNG has been adapted to the China 6 emissions standard that has just been implemented. The standard is even more restrictive than Euro 6 used in Europe. Chinese carriers have very little time to adapt to it. Hence, such mass orders for trucks.
Chinese LNG trucks have a particular layout for their LNG containers. Instead of carrying gas near the frame, it is instead carried behind the cabin, thus needing a much longer frame for the tractors.
