Cairo orders 122 CNG buses from MAN

The Cairo Transportation Authority (CTA) has ordered 122 CNG buses, focusing on economy, sustainability and reduced emissions. The first two vehicles were already delivered at the end of last year. The delivery of another 60 vehicles is planned for July 2019, the last units are to be handed over in the first quarter of 2020.

The basis for the city buses is the MAN chassis of the type A69. The two-axle low-entry chassis is powered by a gas engine with 310 hp (228 kW) and meets the EEV emissions standard. Passengers have 33 seats and 67 standing places available. "In the Egyptian metropolis, where more than 20 million people use public transport every day, there is an urgent need for modern, safe and sustainable means of transport. The CNG buses make a significant contribution to this by fulfilling the requirements of modern city traffic, "says Adel Lünz, Head of MAN Center NWC Africa, adding:" In addition, they score points with long service intervals, ease of servicing and lower fuel costs. "

“The Kastour Egypt for Industry & Trading production facilities in Cairo have been producing bodies for MAN trucks and buses for over 23 years. The current CTA order – which we are very pleased about – also illustrates the excellent cooperation between MAN and its local partners,” says Adel Lünz.
