E.On and Gasag sign cooperation for CNG stations in Berlin

GASAG AG and E.ON Gas Mobil GmbH have signed a cooperation agreement for ten years to operate seven CNG filling stations in Berlin. The former GASAG filling stations became the property of E.ON Gas Mobil, the leading infrastructure provider for CNG mobility in Germany, effective April 1. GASAG continues to supply the fuel and thus guarantees the usual and reliable fuel supply.

Matthias Trunk, GASAG Sales Director: "Berlin is the capital of gas mobility. GASAG has contributed a great deal to this over the years. We are therefore very pleased that together with E.ON Gas Mobil we will now jointly strengthen gas mobility. We stand for a technology-open approach, also in the area of transport, in which the appropriate climate-friendly drive should be available as needed. "

Dr. Olaf Rumberg, Managing Director of E.ON Gas Mobil: "Like many German cities, Berlin has challenges in air pollution control and is striving for a change in traffic. We, as E.ON, are proud to be able to offer a significant contribution to the progress of the Berlin traffic revolution together with GASAG. Here and now, we help move all vehicles - from small cars to heavy-duty trucks - free of fine dust and nitrogen oxides in Berlin. Customers who refuel biogas with us also go CO2-free. Motivated and committed, we will expand the partnership with GASAG for Berlin. "

Natural gas vehicles emit 90% less nitrogen oxides than diesel vehicles and 87% less than gasoline engines. Thousands of tons of nitrogen oxides could be saved in a very short time. In addition, natural gas vehicles are highly accepted by commercial users. Reasons are the long ranges and the cost advantages over the other drive types. With 25 CNG filling stations in Berlin, there is a dense infrastructure with which 10,000 additional natural gas vehicles in Berlin can be refueled from scratch.
