Maserati Energia, a company that composts organic waste, will introduce an additional 5 million cubic meters of biomethane annually. This additional supply of renewable and zero-emissions gas will be used to power motor vehicles and is enough to drive approximately 5o million kilometers on passenger cars.
Natural and renewable gas offer some of the best solutions for sustainable mobility. They reduce carbon dioxide emissions and fine-dust pollution, and ensure significant economic savings for consumers, who can rely on the largest distribution network in Europe, which is undergoing further expansion thanks to Snam's efforts.
The inauguration of the Maserati Energia plant was held in Sarmato, and attended by the mayor, Anna Tanzi, the president of the Italian Biogas Consortium, Piero Gattoni, and the managing director of Maserati Srl, Paolo Maserati. Snam’s Head of Contract, trading and billing, Daniele Capizzi, also attended the event as a speaker.
In addition, the plant will produce around 10 000 tonnes of digestate annually that will be composted and used as fertilizer in agriculture. Around 36 000 m3 clean liquid effluent will be discharged.
Founded in 2017, Maserati Energia represents a first-of-its-kind 100 percent Italian partnership between Maserati – a historic company specialized in composting since 1980 – and Sebigas – a leader in the supply of biogas and biomethane plants – specialized in the complete management of OFMSW: from disposal to valorization for the production of renewable energy.
We are extremely proud of this project that not only demonstrates our deep knowledge of the market and its dynamics but most of all confirms our full trust in the use of OFMSW as a resource for the production of electrical energy and methane. Sebigas can guarantee to its clients, the same efficient project development, but most of all the deep know-how acquired from the cooperation with Maserati, from the initial phases of project financing to the operation assistance, maintenance, biological service and after sales, said Marco Bonvini, General Manager, Sebigas.
