The first Biomethane fuelling unit for refuse trucks and public transport vehicles was built in Vittorio Veneto. It will soon be opened to supply private vehicles as well . Present at the event were the President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia and the President of Legambiente Italy Stefano Ciafani .
With the inauguration of the Vittorio Veneto plant, the Council of the Left Basin Piave and Savno have created a structure able to guarantee economic savings to the territory, enhancement of waste and positive implications on the environment and health. The biomethane obtained from the organic production of the Basin can cover more than 80% of the kilometers traveled for the refuse collection, or about 1.11 million km a year, with a saving in terms of the purchase of fuel of over € 300,000.00.
“The plant will allow Savno to reduce costs and give a strong push to safeguard the environment, with a saving of about 10 tons of CO 2 per year for each unit compared to a vehicle with diesel”
