Ciudad Real renews its urban bus fleet with the acquisition of three new Compressed Natural Gas buses by IBERCONSA, the company that manages the Ciudad Real city buses. The mayor of Ciudad Real, Pilar Zamora, together by the councilor for Mobility, David Serrano, and responsible for Aisa Iberconsa and Naturgy, presented last Friday in the Plaza Mayor the new buses, the first ones in Ciudad Real to comply with the Euro VI European emissions standard; this will result in a considerable reduction in emissions of particulate, NOx, CO and HC pollutants into the atmosphere.
The new units are 3 SCANIA NUB GNC buses of the NEW CITY model, 10.2 meters long and two doors. They have an OC9101 280 HP / 1350 Nm engine, a ZF 6AP1202B Ecolife 6-speed gearbox . The investment will be amortized in the annual operating accounts of IBERCONSA.
"As we think about the Environment, we look for buses that are less polluting: these have much lower emissions and also reduce noise pollution". She also valued the accessibility measures they have. If we are in a city in which we fight for all inclusion, it is very important that public transport does not add any barrier, "said Pilar Zamora.
These buses replace the three oldest vehicles in the fleet, which were over 18 years old, and which met the EURO III standard, so the replacement of these buses by the new Euro VI CNG buses will lead to a substantial reduction in particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, oxides of carbon and hydrocarbons emitted into the atmosphere.
The buses will start operating in the month of February. With regards to the gas station that will be installed in the Larache Polygon of Ciudad Real to fuel these vehicles, Serrano acknowledged that work is being done for obtaining the license, and until it is put into operation, Naturgy has made available a mobile gas station.
