Remitrans, the Belgian transport and logistics company was able to fill their LNG trucks for the first time at their own LNG station in Ninove, Belgium.
The new LNG filling station was built by the Dutch company LIQAL. With the opening of its own LNG filling station, Remitrans is continuing to build on reducing CO2 emissions in the transport sector.
The fact that the transport chain is also more aware of its own responsibility towards the environment is proven by Remitrans. The Belgian transport company is making every effort to bring sustainability to its business, to keep its own impact on the environment as minimal as possible and to contribute to achieving the Belgian climate goals. Last year, this was rewarded and crowned with the Green Truck Award. "By gradually changing the fleet of diesel to LNG, Remitrans improves local air quality and reduces CO2 emissions per truck by at least 20%. With the purchase of 9 ex-factory Euro-6 Volvo trucks, 15% of our lorries are already using liquefied natural gas, increasing next year to 30%, with the aim of changing the entire fleet in the future ", says Frank Coppens, Logistics Manager at Remitrans. The new trucks also have the same performance, driving characteristics and fuel economy as the diesel variant.
"We are convinced that LNG is the alternative for diesel in heavy road traffic and long-distance transport. Now that various truck brands are available and more and more transport companies are opting for clean and affordable LNG, the demand for filling stations for this alternative fuel will also increase. Remitrans has opted for our recently introduced prefab gas station, where the time to market is reduced by a number of months. Good for the duration of the project and for the wallet of our customers, that is what we are going for ", says Joost Jansen, Business Development Manager at LIQAL.
