Sachs Trans, Polish carrier, orders Scania LNG trucks.

The carrier has signed a contract with Scania Gliwice branch for the delivery, in March of their first LNG trucks. The company also announced the construction of their own LNG refueling station in Radlin, where Sachs Trans has its headquarters.

Tomasz Cwalina, director of sales of Scania Polska trucks, commented on the perspectives of the market for 2019, highlighting several issues that directly concern international transport motivated by changing regulations.

In first place stands the German abolition of road tolls for lorries powered by natural gas. Mr. Cwalina admitted that it significantly affected gas interest on the part of Polish carriers. They are considering the acquisition of liquid natural gas (LNG) saddle tractors that can offer up to 1500 kilometers of range.

In 2018, Scania delivered just a few dozen gas trucks in Poland, mostly in municipal configurations, powered by compressed gas (CNG). For the next year, due to the German relief, the company expects to deliver up to 200 units, powered primarily by LNG.

Scania offers these tractors for long-distance transport, in a configuration with a 13-liter engine for liquid natural gas. The unit develops 410 hp and can be combined with R-cabs. The engine has a spark plug system and its operation does not require any diesel oil.
